Berry Ginger Smoothie

In this smoothie we have Blueberries, Blackberries & Ginger.

Why ginger?, you might ask.

“Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe, Zingiberacae) is a medicinal plant that has been widely used in Chinese, Ayurvedic and Tibb-Unani herbal medicines all over the world, since antiquity, for a wide array of unrelated ailments that include arthritis, rheumatism, sprains, muscular aches, pains, sore throats, cramps, constipation, indigestion, vomiting, hypertension, dementia, fever, infectious diseases and helminthiasis.”
Plants such as herbs have long been used in traditional/folk medicine in various cultures throughoutthe world. Zingiber officinale is one of these traditional folk medicinal plants that have been used for over 2000 years by Polynesians for treating diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, fitness and many other illnesses.

Plants are a potential source of natural antioxidants and ginger contains a number of antioxidants that play a role in heart diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer and in the aging process.
